Biography

D. Keith Crossen, M.D. founded Crossen Family Practice in 1989 and practices at Henrico Doctor’s Forest Location. Dr. Crossen is passionate about providing continuity of care for his patients in his practice of Family Medicine. He is one of the few Family Physicians left who insists on following, coordinating and caring for his patients, while in the hospital. Dr. Crossen enjoys addressing the challenges of his adult patients at any age.

Dr. Crossen is a second generation Family Physician, following in the footsteps of his father. Many of his patients went to his father and have chosen to continue their care with his son. “Treating patients from the same family for generations if very rewarding” Dr. Crossen admits. Dr. Crossen founded Crossen Family Practice in 1989, and Father and Son eventually joined forces practicing together until Dr. Crossen Sr. finally retired, at 84.

In addition, Dr. Crossen enjoys caring for patients using the latest technologies, medical breakthroughs and methods to support the wellness goals of his patients. He is an experienced and skilled diagnostician, who works closely with the top specialists in multiple fields guiding patients care with complex and multiple disease state management, to the best possible outcomes, both in the office or at the hospital.

Dr. Crossen serves as the director of Medicine at the Little Sisters of the Poor. He is proud to work so closely the Sisters and staff in their mission to give the best care for the elderly.

Appointed Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine at VCU/MCV, Dr. Crossen provides hands-on experience to medical students and nurse practitioners. He finds teaching the next generation of caregivers to be both rewarding and inspiring.

Dr. Crossen received his undergraduate degree at Randolph-Macon in Ashland, Virginia. After graduation, he worked on National Science Foundation Grant. His research took him across the far reaches of Virginia, sampling ponds, and rivers. Dr. Crossen graduated from VCU/MCV in 1986. He served as Chief Resident at MCV Family Practice Residency at Chippenham Hospital. He served as Chief of Medicine at Stuart Circle Hospital and served as a Member of the Board of Directors for Central Virginia Health Network. Dr. Crossen is Board certified in Family Practice Medicine.

Born in Richmond, Dr. Crossen is an avid conservationist and shares his love of the outdoors with his wife. They also spend as much time as they can with their three children and new son-in-law. He spends a lot of time thinking about the prospect of grandchildren. He has gone on the record…he is for them! We’ll keep our fingers crossed.
